  • Legal Requirements for a Bahamian Wedding
    One piece of government-issued photo Identification, preferably a passport. Bahamian citizens may use a Driver’s License as official ID Be resident in the Bahamas for 24 hours prior to the date of application. You will be required to present your passport as proof of your date of arrival in The Bahamas Notarized and Stamped Affidavit of Eligibility for Marriage, either affirmation that you have never been married, or proof of the end of a former marriage relationship by death or divorce Non-English documents must be translated and authenticated by Apostille in the country of origin Must be 18 years of age, or provide Parental Consent. Contact us for details Blood tests are not required Marriage Licenses are valid for 90 days
  • What documents will we need to prove our current marital status?
    The Government of The Bahamas requires specific documents as evidence of your eligibility for marriage. If you have never been married and are a non-Bahamian, or a Bahamian of 40 years or more, we will provide notarized Affidavits affirming your status. If you are divorced, you must present the original Decree Absolute--or Agreed Final Decree of Divorce. You may also present a certified copy with a raised or colored seal. If you are widowed, you must present an original death certificate or certified copy of the death certificate for your deceased spouse. Documents must be translated into English and authenticated by Apostille. If you are a Bahamian marrying a non-Bahamian, please consult with us about presenting your documents at The Registry.
  • Which services are provided for our legal wedding?
    Our Legal Wedding package includes document notarization and legal registration required for a legal wedding in The Bahamas. We schedule and accompany you to The Registry for a brief, seamless interview. We handle the footwork, including: Preparation of Affidavits attesting Eligibility for Marriage Pre-registration for accurate official recording Accompaniment to Registry Office for your Interview Convenient Marriage License Collection (saves time, parking and taxi costs) Notarization of Marriage License by us (required to submit license) Submission and collection of Marriage Certificate from Registry Submission and collection of Apostille for authentication by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Courier delivery of your authenticated marriage certificate
  • What is the interview process like for a Bahamian marrying a non-Bahamian?
    A Bahamian citizen marrying a non-Bahamian must be interviewed by the Registrar General. Partners are interviewed separately. These marriage licenses incur an additional $100 fee. If you are a Bahamian marrying a non-Bahamian, please consult with us about preparing for your interview.
  • What documents will I need to register our marriage back home?
    We provide a certified copy of your marriage certificate, authenticated by an Apostille for your country. This process allows you to register your marriage in your jurisdiction. Some couples request more than one Certified Marriage License. If you need to register your document in a second or third country, we can have it authenticated via Apostille for any jurisdiction.
  • How long will our Registry Interview take?
    Once we've prepared all required documents, and booked the appointment in advance, we only need you at The Registry Office for 20 - 30 minutes
  • Information about the Registry Office
    Marriage licenses are issued by the Office of the Registrar General, located in the Bahamas Financial Center on the Corner of Shirley and Charlotte Streets. The Registry is open to the public from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and closed on weekends and Bahamian Public Holidays. The Registry’s Marriage License Department conducts interviews, evaluates documents, and is only accessible by appointment. We coordinate your brief appointment based on your arrival time in The Bahamas, and the time required to arrange a marriage license. The Legal Wedding package includes all government and notary fees for one Marriage Certificate, authenticated by Apostille for your jurisdiction We can arrange for additional authenticated Marriage Certificates. Please inquire with us about fees. To avoid additional shipping and handling costs, we recommend that you request all required documents when we apply for the original license.
  • Our Bahamian Marriage Certificate
    How soon will we receive our documents? We file your completed marriage document in person at The Registry Office. Once we receive the official marriage certificate, it is submitted for authentication by Apostille for the jurisdiction you have requested. Please allow 14 days for government processing and courier delivery. How will we receive our documents? If you are living outside The Bahamas, we will courier your authenticated marriage certificate by Fedex. Within The Bahamas, we will contact you to arrange delivery.
